Wilson Museum Awarded Maine Communities Grant by the Maine Office of Tourism

The Wilson Museum is excited to announce that we have been awarded a Maine Communities grant by the Maine Office of Tourism to promote our 2025 Artisan Market and Community Picnic. The Maine Communities Grant Program provides support to tourism focused, community-oriented marketing projects and events. The $5,000 grant will support increased marketing and advertising for the Market, now in its second year. The Museum looks forward to growing the Artisan Market and continuing to support our amazing local artisans, while also leveraging this outreach to contribute to the sustainable growth of tourism in Castine and surrounding communities. Many thanks to the Maine Office of Tourism for this support!

The 2025 Artisan Market and Community Picnic will take place on Saturday, August 16 from 10 am to 5 pm. It will feature local artisans who create beautiful and useful one-of-a-kind pieces using traditional materials and techniques, ranging from pottery to textiles, woodworking to fine leather work, and more. Throughout the day artisans will be demonstrating their work, and you might even get a chance to try something yourself! The event will also feature food trucks and fresh-baked bread along the shore of Castine Harbor.
